It’s been another great week with us all back together Class Two – well done.
In English, we’ve continued to learn about the ‘Weymouth Water Dragon’ and we’re becoming more and more confident when retelling the information text. Keep practising at home using your text map. We’ve been learning to use conjunctions, like ‘because’, ‘so’ and ‘but’, to add more detail to our sentences as well as generaliser words and phrases like ‘the majority of’ and ‘most’.
In Maths, we’ve continued to learn about 2D shapes, learning to sort shapes according to their properties, to recognise and continue patterns and to describe direction and movement using words such as left, right, up and down. Perhaps you could play a directions game at home, using these words to direction someone to a certain point or even to some hidden treasure?
For PE this half term, we’re lucky to have Mr Mason who is teaching us to develop our skills with a range of equipment through team building games. This week we enjoyed our fun and active session with Mrs Trimmer. Have a look at the photos below.
We’ve continued with our Coastline topic, learning to read symbols on maps and to use the compass directions to describe routes. We also took part in an erosion demonstration, seeing how the sea (water) erodes land (sand castles) and how sea defenses (rocks) can help to stop or reduce this. We really enjoyed it and wrote some fantastic sentences to describe what we had seen. Have a look below.
We’ve also continued to enjoy our Stormbreak and PSHE sessions, helping to develop our understanding of emotions and techniques for calming down.
It’s been a busy but brilliant week full of learning and fun.
We hope you all have a great weekend and look forward to seeing you on Monday.
