HOORAH! Today saw the return of our brilliant Reading Champions as they gathered together for their first official meeting of the year, a much anticipated event. For most of our champs, this was their first glimpse of our brand new library and so they relished a fair few minutes taking in the wondrous sight of brand new books set to a fresh backdrop of inspiring spaces with inviting colours and cosy corners to chill, read and to learn. Magnificent! The room lovingly filled with gasps and squeals of: ‘Have you read this book? This one is part of my favourite series! I can’t believe I’ve not seen this book until now!’ before any resemblance of a ‘meeting’ could take place. Just how we like it …
It was widely agreed and therefore unanimous that once our library is complete and ready to open, we deserved to shout about it and to show it off in all its glory. How lucky we are at Southill Primary to have such a fantastic space that we can all enjoy dedicated to reading, full with brand new books and titles to help us with our topics and reading for pleasure. The checking in/out procedure alone impressed our champs today (very clever), who will be at hand to help others when our library is launched. They think you’ll like it.
With this in mind, our team have decided to write to some of their favourite children’s authors letting them know what we have all been up to and informing them of our brand new space – perhaps even inviting them to come take a look. There’s no harm in asking, right? We always like to aim high!
Well done to all our Reading Champions – it was awesome to see you all again. Thank you for your enthusiasm and continued questioning prior to today as to when we might be able to meet and as to what you all could do to help keep the book buzz alive within our school. We may have all been apart for a while, but one thing is for sure and that’s that our book buzz never went away. In fact, it has noticeably developed and taken on a new momentum. Reading for pleasure at its finest, as always.
Thank you also to Mrs Wood for your tremendous efforts creating our new library, ordering us new books to read and enjoy and for allowing us to meet today. We’ve missed you and it’s really great to have you back with us again!
Stay tuned for news of our next meeting, some of our letters and of course any replies that we may receive …
