As well as giving you the spellings and maths facts that your child needs to know each week, I’m hoping you will find this page a useful place to keep up with what we have been doing in class with some ideas for extra support you can offer at home. Reading

If you have a Lexia login please try to do some at home – we are all trying to meet our weekly targets. It doesn’t matter if you have already met yours; the more you do, the better you get!

If you finish your reading book and want to do the quiz you can login here. Don’t forget you can quiz on your library book or home books too. (Not all books have quizzes but it’s worth typing in the title to check).

Writing

This week we have been innovating our story Nail Soup to write our own version of a cumulative tale. We have learned how to describe a character using adjectives and similes. Why not have a go at describing a character at home? You could create your own character or describe one you already know e.g. a Disney character. If you do some writing at home, be sure to bring it in next week or take a photo and email it to Mrs Wood.

Maths

Practise the number bonds of 14 and their subtraction facts.

A great way to help your child with sharpening up their number bond recall is to play games. For example this week the focus is on number bonds of 14. Make some cards, each with a digit on  1  2  3  4  5  6  7  8  9  10  11  12  13   14. Lay the cards face down on the table then turn 2 cards over. If they are a number bond of 14, keep the cards. If not, turn them both face down again. Don’t forget to practise the subtraction facts too.  Let me know if you have another game that helps you.
