Covid update
Our covid guidance remains the same, don’t worry. There haven’t been any changes since we returned from half term. I have moved the guidance to its new home on the website – a permanent page under the Parent/Carers menu – link here.
Covid rates in school continue to be low but with an increase over the past week.
Comic Relief
In aid of Comic Relief, the School Council are planning to stage a comic show in the hall during the afternoon of Friday 18th March. They are busy collecting names from those interested in performing a form of comedic entertainment. We are suggesting a donation of £1.00 as entrance to the comedy show. All contributions will be sent to the UK charity, Comic Relief – whose vision is ‘of a just world, free from poverty’. If your child would like to wear a red nose, they are welcome to do so during the event on Friday.
We are looking forward to coming together for an afternoon of fun and laughter in support of this important cause.
Ukraine ribbons
And, in more news about important causes, I am really grateful to everyone who supported our awareness and fundraising day last Friday. We all consider Southill to be a caring school and so it’s important to us all that we extend our values of kindness and empathy to all who need it. So it was good to see so many children and staff wearing the ribbons of support for Ukraine last week. With your generous help, we also raised £471.04 for the Disaster Emergency Committee who are heavily involved in helping the refugees from the war. Thank you everybody.
Big Walk and Wheel week
A reminder that we are hoping to encourage as many of you as possible to walk, scoot or cycle to school in the next couple of weeks. If you can’t cycle or scoot, how about parking at the shops and walking up the hill in the mornings? That would be an active journey that we can count every day and will give us a chance of winning prizes for the school. We hope as many of you as possible are able to join in.
Wessex Roundabout: the need for a safe crossing
In an update to my note about this campaign in my last newsletter, the group have now created a petition for supporters to sign. A controlled crossing at Wessex Roundabout would not only make the journey to Budmouth safer for children, it would encourage more students to choose a healthier, active way to travel to school – and that would be good for everyone.
