This week, Year 6 were introduced to their new topic… ‘Hola Mexico!’

At the start of the week, the class were shown a video which explored many Mexican traditions, including the Day of the Dead Festival. The children then spent some time designing their own Day of the Dead Festival mask which they will make in the following lessons. We discussed how the designs of each mask often included vibrant colours as well as floral patterns.

Later in the week, the children spent an afternoon listening to some traditional Mexican song, such as La Cucaracha (The Little Cockroach). They learnt the song as a class and even had a go at singing it in Spanish!

We are all really looking forward to this topic!
