This afternoon, Year 6 made their way onto the top field ready for a spot of rounders!
We started off our lesson with a warm up game. One child (who was the eliminator) had to close their eyes, whilst the rest of the class had to run around the bases and stand behind one of them. The eliminator then picked a number and whoever was stood behind that number base, would be eliminated from the game!
We then spent some time working in groups of four practising our bowling, batting and fielding. We focused on holding the bat correctly and making sure our body was in the correct position ready to hit the ball.
It was then time to put our work into practice with a game of three ball rounders! The class were split into two teams and were led by our team leaders Ellouise and Ellie Belle (chosen by the wheel of names!). I was hugely impressed with both teams as they improved on their fielding work across the afternoon, discussing tactics and communicating well with each other. It was also great to see some fantastic batting by all of the class! We even lost a few tennis balls after some mighty hits into the hedges!
An extremely enjoyable afternoon Year 6 – well done!
