We had great fun in Year 5 today learning how modal verbs can be used to influence and persuade people in our writing! We began by watching this video with a catchy tune learning what modal verbs are. We challenge you to watch this and not start singing along!

Then we learnt how modal verbs work and how they can be used on a scale of certainty. We then used modal verbs in our own persuasive writing, trying to convince Mrs Hill to eat our favourite chocolates, read our favourite books, take part in our favourite sports or watch our favourite films!  Great resourceful writing Year 5 and I have to say, I am pretty convinced by some of these persuasive statements!
