What a great ICT lesson we had this week in Year 5. We recapped on programming a microcontroller called a Crumble. Then, using all of our skills, we wired up the crumble to a power source, ensuring we didn’t mix up our positives and negatives, attached a micro USB port to the crumble and the computer, and then connected the sparkle to the crumble. A sparkle is a multi-coloured LED designed to work with the Crumble. It was only then, after connecting 6 leads correctly, did we have our LEDs lighting up. There was a lot to think about and problem solving to be done.
Next up was creating a Crumble program. We set the Sparkle to flash different colours and for different amounts of time.
What a great fun lesson. I can’t wait for next week when we are going to add a geared motor into the mix!
