Year 6 have got off to a flying start with their new art project ‘Bees, Beetles and Butterflies’!
The first lesson involved the children looking at different observational drawings and discussing what they noticed about them. They shared things such as:
“The cross-hatching on the wings creates a textured look.”
“The fine lines around the bee makes the hair look realistic.”
“I like how the artist has used intricate detail on the butterfly’s wigs.”
We then created our own observational drawings using black ink pen inspired by some photographs of different insects. At the end of the lesson, we created our own gallery and walked around the class admiring all of our fantastic drawings!
I am so impressed with the focus and amount of detail everyone put into their drawings – they have produced some fantastic artwork!
