Weekly spellings and times tables
We were having FAR too much fun to do our spellings and our times tables test today so we have decided to move it to the first week back after Christmas.
Topic- Our topic next half term is called ‘Misty Mountain, Winding River’. In order to fully immerse themselves into this topic, the children could do one of the following projects over the Christmas holidays:
-Build a model mountain to display at school with some interesting information.
-Do a fact file about a mountain from around the world (or from the UK).
-Research how humans used rivers.
-Research animals you might find on mountains and in rivers.
Get creative and bring your projects in on the first week back for us to display in the classroom
Reading – Please encourage your child to read over the weekend. It’s also great for children to have the opportunity to read with an adult. Please write in their Reading Record Books and ensure these come back on Monday. If children need to complete a book quiz at home, then simply follow the link- Renaissance – Log In (renaissance-go.com).
TT Rockstars – We really want the children to develop their times tables this academic year. We have set up an account on TT Rockstars for the children and their username is stuck in the back of their Reading Records. To access the website, follow this link – Times Tables Rock Stars: Play (ttrockstars.com).
Lexia- For those of you that also have Lexia accounts, why not login at home? Who knows, maybe you’ll make it onto our leaderboard in the 2%er assembly on Thursdays! – Lexia Core5 Reading – Login and Student Program
Spellings
The spellings for this week are:
medicine
mention
minute
natural
naughty
Spellings will be tested on Friday 5th January 2024!
Parents: all words are selected from the age-appropriate National Curriculum list of statutory words. These are words your child has to know by the end of Year 4. Please encourage your child to practice at home and carry out an occasional test to prepare them for Friday morning.
Times Tables
We would like the children to have a go at learning the…
3s, 4s and 8x tables
The children will have random questions all linked to these times tables. Please encourage your children to practice as much as possible in order to prepare them for the test next Friday. By the end of the year, children need to be able to answer all times table problems up to 12 x 12 in under 6 seconds!

On Friday after school, please ask your child to see their scores. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
