Basketball Competition
The children have been desperate to step back onto the court since the basketball skills and drills session at Atlantic earlier in the year. Today, eight children from Southill made the journey once again over to Atlantic Academy to put what they had learnt from the skills session, PE lessons and basketball club into action. Southill would be facing 5 other teams in total across the whole afternoon and needed to be at their very best in order to claim victory. Here is how we did…
Southill 3 – 1 Wyke
Southill 3 – 0 Holy Trinity
Southill 3 – 2 Atlantic
Southill 3 – 0 Bincombe
Southill 6 – 1 Conifers
That’s right…Southill Primary School DID NOT LOSE A SINGLE GAME! They played with such tenacity and determination throughout the entire tournament and every single player gave it their all. Rather unfortunately, this did not mean we were crowned as winners. The four top teams then went through into the semi-finals. Despite our best efforts, we could not keep our winning form going and we sadly lost our semi-final match to Wyke Regis 1 – 0 Southill and Wyke ended up going on to win the competition.
Nevertheless, I am so proud of the team. To beat every single school at the event makes them all winners in my eyes and it was a pleasure to witness them all playing with such confidence on the court. We had an incredible afternoon and the children represented Southill School impeccably.
