On the Volley!
I am delighted to announce that on a Tuesday afternoon, I get the chance to teach EVEN MORE Physical Education. This year, I will be working with Year 6 and we have been focusing on the sport Volleyball. The children have not had much experience at playing volleyball meaning that we were all starting on a level playing field.
This week, we developed our use of the set when returning a ball over the net and even had a go at serving. The children watched the technique carefully to ensure the trajectory of the ball was forward, curved (like an upside down U) and high in order for it to go over the net. The children have been working hard on their teamwork and have been tasked with working with different children in the class. They have demonstrated reciprocity in abundance and, even when some of the skills and drills have become more difficult, they have show resilience and reflectiveness to try and get better each and every time.
Some of the children even moved onto rallying over the net this afternoon, ensuring the ball remained off the floor and travelled over to the other side of the net. I am already looking forward to next week as we will be learning how to dig!
Well done, Year 6. I’m already looking forward to our next session.
