Nice to meet you, MRS GREN!
We had a very special visitor during our Science lessons this week. Mrs. Gren came in to teach us all about the difference between living and non-living things.
We looked at the seven life processes and Mrs. Gren’s name very much helped us with this. Here they are:
Movement
Respiration
Sensitivity
Growth
Reproduction
Excretion
Nutrition
Children then conducted research using books and online sources in order to see what these words mean.
We then delved deeper into reproduction and focused specifically on mammals. We learnt about how humans reproduce and that the gestation time is approximately 9 months. We then set a challenge for the children to find out whether or not all mammals take 9 months to produce an offspring. Well, we were shocked by some of our findings. For example, an African elephant’s gestation time is 22 months, whereas a female meerkat is only pregnant for 77 days!
Some of the children even created bar graphs in order to compare the various gestation times.
What a fascinating science lesson indeed.

I had so much fun learning about MRS GREN!😊
