New Learning in Year 1 This Week

This week we have introduced these new graphemes:

a-e (shake), i-e (time), o-e (home), u-e (rude /cute)

Please help your child recognise these graphemes (split digraphs) in words and sound and blend to read words containing these graphemes.

This week we introduced subtraction and writing number sentences using the minus sign. So far we have explored this using part:whole models.

We have also been looking at the pairs of numbers that total ten. Please help your child to practise these:

10 + 0

9 + 1

8 + 2

7 + 3

6 + 4

5 + 5
