Picture of the day: Here is the main character from our story – Hairy Maclary. Talk about what he does in the story. What does he look like? Who are his friends and what do they look like. Today you could write something about Hairy Maclary – maybe write about his adventures in the story or describe him.
Sentence starter ideas: He is…… He has………. He went………. I like………
Phonics: Letters and sounds lesson 12 today.
Phase 4 Challenge: Today we will look at the fl blend at the beginning of these words. You could make a flag and decorate it with words beginning with fl or just write the word flag in lots of different colours. Words for today (watch our for 2 digraphs in the last one):

Can you re-tell a favourite story using your toys at home?

Book-making: Have a go at making your own zig-zag book about pets or Hairy Maclary. Draw a picture on each page and write a short sentence or word to match it. Here is a photo of how to fold your piece of paper.
Craft: You could make a pet face out of a paper plate, or a circle of card. Use paint, paper or pencils/pens for adding colour and detail.
Time to Talk: This would be a great start for a conversation – you could change it by asking ‘if you were a pet what would you be and why’.
