Learning tasks and ideas for Thursday
Phonics and writing: I have chosen a 2-syllable word of the day for your phonics and writing challenges. Your word of the day is farmyard. Read and write the word together then try some of the challenges. Its a good time for reviewing the ar digraph. I had great fun setting up this farmyard in my garden!
Challenge 1: Write a sentence (or try 2 or 3) about what you can see in the farmyard. An example could be – I can see a cow and a sheep. Remember the children should try this challenge independently, using their sound board to help (please see previous tips for grown-ups about sounding out words to write).
Challenge 2: Draw a picture of a farmyard – what animals will be in your picture?
Challenge 3: Use junk or construction toys to make a home for one of the farm animals.
Challenge 4: If you have any craft materials at home, create a picture of your favourite farm animal (or just a drawing would be great too).

Other:
Try to get outside today for some exercise and fresh air. We always like to go outside on a Thursday morning. Look out for birds, listen to the sounds around you and try to spot signs of spring. Use this spotter sheet if appropriate for where you are able to walk and stay safe.

If you are not able to get outside, have a look at these nature webcams.

Have fun.
