Tasks for Thursday
Picture of the Day: This one should make you smile! Have a chat first – these questions might help.
Imagine that you have just walked into your kitchen to find this.
- You can only ask 3 questions to the octopus. What would you ask and why?
- How did the octopus get here?
- Why is it wearing a hat?
- What will you do with the octopus?
- Is it male or female – he or she?
Then write a sentence about your discussions. Try starting with one of these options: he is……. she is……. The……. I will……… Remember, the children will have a go at sounding out octopus themselves – see how they approach this.
Phonics: Following on from your email, here is the second lesson from Letters and Sounds.
Phase 4 challenge: Watch a final video clip from espresso – choose one of the videos about word endings that you haven’t watched yet. Try writing some of the words in a phoneme frame. (CVCC words)
Maths: Try out the activities from Day 4 of The Night Pirates. Making a pirate ship today – have fun!

Reading: Have another look at our story of the week – A Hole in the bottom of the sea. Read it through together and try to join in.
A Hole in the Bottom of the Sea – story
Here is a different version of the story – it has been written as a song ( we used to sing it at school sometimes). Can you spot what is different here?
hole in the bottom of the sea – song
Other Activities
Drawing challenge: Ask an adult to cut out a large circle of paper for you – this is the hole in the bottom of the sea! Then draw 4 or 5 sea creatures that are in the hole – this could be the same as the story (shark, eel,…..) or it could be another sea creature you have found out about this week.
Let’s get moving: Another Sticky Kids workout.

Finally: Let’s go on an aquatic adventure with Andy – enjoy.
Oh yes, don’t forget the daily songs and activities from Out of the Ark. It’s a tadpole song today! Why not make up some actions as you sing!
Have a great day and get ready for Pyjamarama tomorrow!
