Tasks for Thursday
Phonics: Letters and Sounds Lesson 28 – reviewing and using what we already know. Join in with your whiteboards and pens (at home, you could carry on using your phoneme frames to help you or write in your work book)
Picture of the day: A great picture to talk about today. Think about some of these questions:
Where is this?
Where do the steps lead to?
Who is the girl? What is she doing?
What is the whale doing there?
How does this picture make you feel?
If you were in the picture, what would you be able to hear? Where would you choose to be?
Now write a sentence about the picture. Sentence starter ideas: This is……. She is….. I feel…… I like…. I can see
Remember that the children will sound out the word ‘whale’ as they hear it – see how they would sound it out.
Maths: White Rose Maths – The Snail and the Whale – Day 4. Watch the video and try out the activities. Today you will be using 10 frames. If you are at home, just draw a simple one to use – like this.

Other Activities
Loose part play (collecting and using collections of objects in your play e.g. buttons, bottle lids, jewels, pebbles)
Collect some loose parts in a tray then use them to create pictures. A great way to do this is to draw/chalk an outline on paper (or on a tuff tray at school) then fill the outline with loose parts. You could draw a simple outline of a fish, then fill with buttons or jewels or bottle lids. You could start with a circle then add objects to create a snail. Here are some pictures for ideas. Don’t worry about sticking anything down – just create then take it apart and try a different one!
Getting Outside
Play this game outside today – we have played it before but why not try it with objects collected outside this time?
Why not take some chalk outside with you too and look back to some of the challenges from Tuesday. You could even try the loose parts challenge outside – draw an outline with chalk then fill with leaves or other natural objects you can find.
Extra challenge: If you would like an extra challenge, why not make a zig-zag book about the creatures from the ‘picture of the day’ yesterday – remember you wrote a list of them.
I hope you enjoy your challenges today. Funny Friday tomorrow!
