Tasks for Tuesday
Picture of the day: Wow! – a magical picture today, full of beautiful and tiny things. Have a chat about it first.
- Where do you think this is?
- Is it a real place?
- Is there anything surprising in this picture?
- What kind of creatures might live here?
- Would you like to go here? Why/why not?
Now have a go at writing a sentence (or more) to describe the picture. The……. I can see…… I wish……… It is……….. I like………
Phonics: Here is the next Letters and Sounds video lesson. It re-visits the oa digraph.
Phase 4 challenge: Letter blends at the beginning of words.
Following on from yesterday, here are some more words to sound out together and write into a phoneme frame. These have a blend of sp at the beginning. These letters do not make a new sound, they just blend together when you say the words. (Remember, the digraphs oo, or go together in one box – 2 letters make 1 sound).

Reading: Did you enjoy the comic yesterday? Why not look back over some of the Phase 3 comics to match the new phonics videos you are watching. Here are a few favourites.

Other Activities
P.E: Tuesday is our P.E day at school – why not try this episode of Cosmic Yoga based around The Very Hungry Caterpillar!
Drawing Challenge: Another idea for drawing today. Why not give your child a piece of paper with a hole cut out of it somewhere? It could be in the middle or near one of the edges. See what they draw around the hole. Then have a chat about what they have created.
Tiny Challenge: Have a go at building a den for one of your tiny toys. Try using natural materials if you can.
Craft: This is a fun activity for making a caterpillar. (It says to ‘draw round this book’ for the size – as you can’t do this, don’t worry. You just need a piece of paper about A4 size)
Finally: A beautiful song about rainbows, from Out of the Ark.
Talk about everyone’s favourite colours in your house. Perhaps over a meal you could go round the table in turn with
everyone naming things that are the same colour as their favourite colour (think foods, animals, items in your house,
in nature or at school etc.) and keep going round until people run out of things to say and are out of the game. What’s the easiest colour to make a list for?
Did you know? Bees see colours that we can’t see. Their range of colour vision extends into the ultraviolet. The flowers they pollinate have special ultraviolet patterns on them that guide the bees to the pollen and nectar!
Have a great day.
