Answers to yesterday’s guided practice :
The team that went on to win the World Cup was… Germany.
Today’s task:
Chapter 14 Lesson 2. Workbook pages 155/156 Answer the questions in this order: 3,2,1. I think number 1 is the hardest!
If you get stuck then read these hints and tips:
In 1(a) there are two ways to work this out: you could work out the individual mean for each person over the four weeks e.g. Parker sold 4 cars in 4 weeks so to work out his mean divide 4 by 4. When you have worked out each person’s mean add all the means together. Then divide your answer by the number of people altogether (4). Or you could add up all the cars sold and divide by the number of people (4). Then divide that answer by the number of weeks (4).
Your answers will involve remainders which will need to be written as fractions or decimals. Use your maths revision books to help you do this. Or see the hint for number 2 below!
1(b) You will have worked out this answer on your way to answering question 1(a).
2 You’ll get another remainder which you could show as a decimal or a fraction. Remember whatever number you divide by that will be the denominator in your answer e.g. 6 divided by 5 = 1 remainder 1 or 1 and 1/5 or 1.2 because 1/5=0.2
3 If you’re lucky you might not need to work out all the means in this question. As soon as you find two that are the same then you’ve answered the question!
