This week we have been learning more about ‘one more’ and ‘one less’. In your child’s reading record you will find a 100 square. We have started using these this week.

You can support your child at home by helping them to find numbers on the 100 square quickly and carefully. Have a go at writing down some numbers for your child to find, and then write one more and one less than that number by jumping backwards or forwards one.

We will use our hundred squares a lot throughout the school year so it is really important that your child is confident finding the numbers and can identify them correctly. One common mistake is reading ’24’ and then finding number ’42’. This can be easily rectified with extra practise and makes a big difference.
