Phonics screening – look back at some of the old phonic screening checks. The words with the ‘aliens’ next to them are ‘alien words’ therefore not real. Support your child to sound out these words. This link will take you to an example one so you know what they look like.

Addition and subtraction – using your numberline can you answer some addition and subtraction questions. You could turn this into a game…How many questions can you answer in 1 minute? Can you beat your grown up? Use the number line to support jumping carefully and accurately. This is a really important skill to master as it forms the foundations for lots of tricker questions throughout school!
Time – Use your clock at home to begin telling the time to o’clock or half past. Focus on the minute hand and the hour hand. Set a challenge, can you tell me when it is 8 o’clock etc. We haven’t covered this yet but we will do later in Maths No Problem so having a little look now would be really helpful.

After being sent this picture ( thank you Harley) I thought .. What a fantastic activity! Why not make a paper chain of the rest of the children in our class? Can you draw them and write their name? Perhaps on the back you could add a fact about each of the. For example ‘Oscar is a twin’ or ‘Tommy is going to be a big brother’. Can you remember who has a dog called ‘Nelly?’
Music-
Use your voice expressively. Can you sing some of your favourite songs? Maybe you can make up your own song to the tune of a song you already know? Can you clap along to the rhythm? I would love to hear them!!
Science –
This website has lots of great ideas for simple experiments at home. Have a look and choose one you could try. What do you think is going to happen? Why do you think this? Focus on realy explaining why you think it will happen, what do you already know or what have you seen before that makes you predict this?
