Comprehension/Writing task
Today, we’d like you to read the story below (Jack and the Beanstalk) and have a go at answering the questions about it. You don’t need to copy out all of the questions, just try using the questions within your answers, answering in sentences, like we do at school.
Remember to read the story carefully, read the questions carefully and keep looking back at the story to find the answer. We have included the answer sheet so you can go through the answers with an adult after you’ve had a go.
Jack and the Beanstalk Comprehension
Arithmetic task
Today we would like you to write out the five times table but without the answers! Cut out each equation (number sentence), turn them over and muddle them up. Now turn them over one at a time and see how quickly you can recall the answer. You could even ask a grown-up to time you to see how quickly you can do it – can you get faster?
You could also have a go on ‘Times Table Rock Stars’ – just use your Purple Mash log in details to log on. Here’s the link:
Maths task
Continuing our work on shape, today we are going to start to learn about how to describe moving shapes.
Please look at lesson 9 -’ Moving Shapes’ in the Maths No Problem Textbook (we have skipped lesson 8 intentionally). Use the words ‘left, right, up and down’ to describe how the shape needs to be moved across the grid.
We would then like you to have a go at Worksheet 9 – pages 59 and 60 in the Maths No Problem Workbook.
We wish you well with your home learning tasks. Please get in touch via email if you have any questions. Mrs Clark will be responding to emails today but is also in school so will respond at appropriate times during the day.
Happy learning!
Mrs Murray and Mrs Clark
