English task
Today, we will be continuing our learning about ‘The Elves and the Shoemaker’ and we’d like you to imagine you are Clary, Pepper or Jas.
Mr and Mrs Cobbler (the shoemaker and his wife) have written you a letter. Have a look here Day 7 and we’d like you to have a go at writing back to them.
What adventures have you and your elf friends been on? Where have you been? What have you seen and been doing? Who have you helped?
Tell Mr and Mrs Cobbler all about your adventures, being as imaginative and descriptive as you can. You could use other stories you know to help or just make up your own ideas.
Arithmetic task
For today’s task, we’d like you to fill in the missing numbers for these number sequences. Write them out in your book if you are unable to print the sheet.
Remember, we’re learning to count back in 3s so try your best to start from the biggest number and count back. You could then check your answers by counting up in 3s.
Maths task
Here are the answers to yesterday’s worksheet pages.
Today, we would like you to look at Lesson 7 on page 198 of the Textbook which is all about solving word problems involving volume using multiplication and division.
Start by talking to someone about the ‘In Focus’ task. Do you need to multiply or divide to solve it? Have a go at solving it and then read through the ‘Let’s Learn’ section to see how the Maths No Problem children did it. Look at question 2 of the ‘Let’s Learn’ and talk to someone about whether you need to multiply or divide to solve this problem. Then, have a go.
Next, work your way through the ‘Guided Practice’ section of the lesson. Draw pictures to help solve each problem and talk to someone about it. Have a go at multiplying or dividing the numbers, you could use your times table facts to help or draw arrays for multiplication (see below) or sharing showers for division (see below.)
Finally, complete Worksheet 7 on pages 168-169 of the Workbook.
Topic Task – Wriggle and Crawl – Camouflage and Warning Colours
For today’s topic task, we’d like you to find out about why the way a minibeast looks can help it avoid being eaten.
First, read the following information. Camouflage and warning colours
Then, have a go at designing your very own minibeast. Draw and label a picture of your minibeast, thinking carefully about how it looks. Will your minibeast use camouflage, mimicry or warning colours to protect itself? Don’t forget to give your minibeast a name.
If you’re finding it tricky to design your own, you could create a new minibeast by combining two well known minibeasts e.g. the Snant (a snail and an ant), Slouse (a slug and a woodlouse.)
