1…2…3…DODGEBALL!
This morning, Year 5 made their way to Redlands to participate in the very first Weymouth and Portland Dodgeball Tournament! The competition, created by yours truly, had Southill buzzing with excitement to take part.
The tournament format ensured that all teams played each other once, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals. Here’s how we got on:
Southill 6 – 0 Holy Trinity
Conifers 2 – 4 Southill
Bincombe 0 – 6 Southill
Southill 0 – 6 Beechcroft
Wyke Regis 0 – 6 Southill
Southill 4 – 2 St. Augustine’s
Southill 6 – 0 St. Andrew’s
With six wins out of seven games, Southill secured second place and a spot in the semi-finals! Our opponents? Holy Trinity—this time, the sets increased to five. After a closely fought contest, Southill emerged victorious with a nail-biting 7 – 3 win, earning a place in the final!
Our final opponents were none other than Beechcroft—the only team to defeat us in the qualifiers. It was an intense match, with both teams showcasing unbelievable dodgeball skills. The final score…
Southill 4 – 6 Beechcroft
Despite the result, I could not be prouder of Team Southill. They were truly outstanding, demonstrating teamwork, resilience, and an excellent understanding of the game.
A huge thank you to the Budmouth sports leaders for officiating the matches, to Mr. Frampton for capturing the magic on camera, and to Mr. Barham and Mr. Kirk for helping transport the children to and from the event. Finally, an enormous thank you to Team Southill for an incredible display of skill and sportsmanship!
