500 Word Story Superstars!
In Year Three, children were set an optional home learning opportunity to enter the ‘500 word story’ competition, courtesy of BBC Radio Two. The 500 Words story is open to any child who is aged between 5 and 13 years old on 12th June 2020, and is a full time resident of the UK. The competition celebrates imagination and creativity – not spelling and grammar! – so all children of all abilities are invited to enter.
I am delighted to share that two girls in Year Three decided to take up the challenge and wrote their very own stories, titled ‘The Wise Wizard’ and ‘The Unicorn and the Dinosaur’ which have both now been submitted.
Because of their hard work and determination, they both received a colourful certificate. We listened to the stories and, I must say, both are incredible pieces of writing!
We will find out in April whether they were successful in reaching the next round, however, just for submitting a story and giving it a go, you’re both already winners in our eyes!
So proud of you Lenni you spent a few weeks writing this, going back to it in your room and adding peices. Then typing it on the laptop saving it then few days later doing more typing again, you amaze me every day great determination. We think it’s just amazing. Its great that you have the courage to stand up and read it to your class mates and we wish you all the luck in the competition. Thanks to the best school and teachers. Good luck Lenni, Love Mum Dad Georgia
