We have had a really great first week back.  This week the children have continued to learn about measurements using centimetres, metres and millimetres.  They have been finding out how to find equivalent measurements and even measuring their friends height and feet and how far they can jump! Some have measured in metres and centimetres and others went that extra step and even measured their jump in millimetres! We will be continuing with our measurement learning next week too.

I felt very proud of the class this week during English as they became journalists and reporters.  They finished planning their newspaper report about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and then did an incredible job of using powerful verbs and very interesting adjectives to write up their report as if they were reporters in the time of 79AD.  Some children were brave enough to read out their reports in the style of news reporters and those  grown-ups who are signed up to Class Dojo will be able to see videos of some of the children next week.

Our ancient Egypt topic started this week and it has been brilliant.  The children have been accessing books about ancient Egypt, writing their name in hieroglyphics and are beginning to find out about Lower and Upper Egypt and the importance of the River Nile. We have a very exciting visit from Neil the time traveller next Wednesday and will be finding out a lot more!
