As part of our Memory Box topic we have been learning about the past. As I am sure you can imagine, the thought of no Xbox or iPhone was quite a shock to year 1…. so imagine their faces when they found out that our special guest had to use newspaper for toilet roll!!!

We have been really lucky to have Tom – Lysander’s grandad- in this week talking to the children about his childhood and answering lots of different questions which the class had prepared. We started off using our question words: Who, What, Where and Why to think about how to open our questions and of course remembered to use the correct punctuation at the end!

Everyone really enjoyed these sessions and found out lots of interesting information about the food Tom used to eat, where he used to live and what he used to do at school. He even took us outside to learn how to play one of his favourite old games ….marbles!

What a fantastic week! We are very lucky here at Southill to have such supportive families.
