It’s been a fantastic first 2 weeks for Year 4. All the pupils have done a great job at settling into their new learning environment; adapting to new routines, following the class charter and stepping up to the challenge of a new level of learning. They’ve hit the ground running with engaging book talks, tricky place value, suspense-filled short-burst writing, ball skills, and french! We’ve done some great Storm Breaks, and the class have been loving their classic class novel: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Our topic learning for the last 2 weeks has been Science: Living things and their habitats. During this fact-packed module, pupils have been learning about how we define something as living (MRS GREN), the various habitats and environments of living things, and how to classify them in a variety of scientific ways. This week they learnt how to use and create ‘classification keys’, a type of flow chart which, through a series of questions, narrows down living things (or anything to that matter – including sweets!) into categories to help us identify them.
Well done, Year 4! We’re all so excited about the year ahead.
Dan, Matt and Sue.
