A TV Workshop with CBEEBIES
This afternoon, Years 4, 5, and 6 were treated to a spectacular workshop that offered an exciting glimpse into life within the television and media industry. The Ridiculous Rhyme Show was written and developed by CBeebies presenters Joe Chambers and Andrew Crawford. They began their rhyming adventure in 2012, playing First Officer Ditty and Professor Poet on The Rhyme Rocket.
The show was designed to engage a primary school-aged audience through interactive performance and comedy, encouraging children to enjoy literacy through creative wordplay that can be carried back into the classroom.
The children had a fabulous time learning all about how television programmes are made. We set up a pop-up studio in the school hall, and the children became a production team. We discussed the various roles you would find onset, such as make-up artists, producers, light technicians, camera operators and floor managers. Some were even lucky enough to perform in a devised scene.
It was a LOT of fun, and the workshop inspired many children to consider a potential career in television.
