This afternoon, Year 6 were introduced to their new Art project ‘Abstraction and Distortion’. We explored the difference between abstraction ( taking recognizable objects and changing them until they no longer look realistic) and distortion (any change made by an artist to the shape or size if an idea), and looked at some famous examples of these.
As a class, we decided that most abstract art includes:
•unrealistic
•vivid colours
•reconstructed shapes
•some detail is left out
We then had a go at creating our own pieces of abstract art using slight distortion or great abstraction by cutting up images of basic objects and reconstructing them into our own artwork!
Stay tuned for more abstract art over the next week…!
Well done year 6! ❤️💫 x
