This week, Year 6 were very excited to get stuck into their art lessons as a part of our Frozen Kingdoms project. The aims of the lessons were to use pencils to create shade and texture in order to create a realistic drawing of an Antarctic animal. The class were given half a photograph of an animal from the polar regions and their task was to complete the photograph by drawing the other side.
The children worked hard to create texture in their drawings by using pencil lines to create their animal’s fur. They also experimented with different types of art pencils which helped us to create shadows and light areas on our drawings. It was also important for the children to consider the symmetry of the animal to help make their drawing look as realistic as possible.
I saw lots of resilience and perseverance as the class worked incredibly hard to create drawings they were proud of. Well done Year 6!
