Over the last week we have been lucky enough to take part in three virtual sessions from authors and illustrators. These give us opportunities to hear about ideas for stories and how illustrators create pictures for books.
Our first session was with Nick Sharratt where we were introduced to his new book – Shark in the Snow. Here we are drawing snails and Father Christmas!
Our next session was with Helen Stephens and we were so pleased she was talking about her book ‘Saving Mr Hoot’. She talked about her pet dog, Peggy, and showed us how she draws her pictures. Sometimes she uses sticks dipped in ink when drawing! Here are her tips for drawing Mr Hoot.
Our final session, on Thursday, was another session with Nick Sharratt. This time he shared his new book ‘Ketchup on your reindeer”. This was such good fun – plenty of things to laugh at too! We enjoyed drawing ducks and a snowman too. The funniest part was a game where Nick used a spinner to see what he had to put on himself. Can you see him with Jam, a Christmas hat, a snowman nose and ketchup?!
We are hoping to join one more session next week with Julia Donaldson!
