The aim of today’s PE lesson was for Year 6 to be able to dribble the basketball with confidence, accuracy and control. We discussed how it was important to be able to move in different directions with the ball, not just moving forward!
We spent some time practising our dribbling skills whilst also incorporating a chest pass, bounce pass and overhead pass. To help us work on our control, we had a go at the sitting down challenge where we had to try and sit down and stand up all whilst continuously dribbling the ball. After being very resilient, lots of us were successful!
Then it was time for a mini competition! The children worked in pairs to dribble to the center of the court, collect a cone and dribble back to ‘tag’ their partner. This meant the children had to think carefully about their control and dribbling skills as well as being aware of their surroundings, ensuring they looked forward as they moved.
Despite the very windy weather, the children worked incredibly hard and were very resilient! They developed their dribbling and passing skills and even their ability to work in pairs.
Well done Year 6!
