Basketball Champions!

Basketball Champions!

Today, seven year 6 children from Southill made the journey over to Atlantic Academy to put what they had learnt from the skills session, PE lessons and basketball club into action. Southill would be facing 5 other teams in total across the whole afternoon and needed to be at their very best in order to claim victory and reach the finals. Here is how we did…

St Georges 13 Southill

Scorers – Olivia, Noah and Ashton

Southill 8 – 0 Radipole

Scorers – Taylor x 4, Eli x2, Noah, Lysander

St Augustine’s 03 Southill

Scorers – Noah, Taylor, Olivia

 Southill 40 Beechcroft

Scorers – Lysander, Sonny, Taylor, Olivia

Wyke Regis 02 Southill

Scorers – Sonny, Taylor

That’s right…In the qualifying rounds, Southill Primary School DID NOT LOSE A SINGLE GAME! They played with such tenacity and determination throughout the entire tournament and every single player gave it their all. This resulted in Southill reaching the final to face another team that went through the entire group stage undefeated…Bincombe Valley. Here’s how we got on:

Southill 2 2 Bincombe

Scorers – Noah, Ashton

The two undefeated teams remained undefeated. After the final whistle, the game ended in a draw. The tournament organisers decided that due to both teams winning every game and the final ending in stalemate, it would only be fair if BOTH teams were crowned the winners! The previous winners of the competition forgot to bring the trophy. Nevertheless, we will be sharing the spoils with Bincombe and it will be another trophy to add to the Southill cabinet!

I am so proud of the team. They played unbelievably well and it was a pleasure to witness them all competing with such confidence on the court. We had an incredible afternoon and the children represented Southill School impeccably.
