Book Talk

Book Talk

In Year 6, we do something called ‘Book Talk’ every week which involves delving deeper into brilliant books. We tend to focus on just one particular chapter in that book or even just a couple of paragraphs in order to determine whether it’s a book we would be interested in reading. During the session we will discuss things such as: the plot, character motives, vocabulary used by the author and what we think may happen next

It fills me with joy when I then see children desperate to pick up these books and read them! In fact, I have recently had to order some new books as some of them are so hot in demand! Here are just a few books we have looked at since September…

The Creakers

The Wild Robot

Stig of the Dump

Hugo Cabret

Goosebumps – Attack of the Living Dummy

The Twits

The Graveyard Book

The Word’s Worst Teachers

Wallace and Gromit – The Complete Cracking Contraptions Manual

Holes

A Really short History of Nearly Everything

Skellig

The children in Year 6 are certainly buzzing about books and who knows which book we will look at next…
