Welcome to my weekly update from Southill Primary. I hope you’ve all had a great week.
The Bake Sale was really successful this morning. We raised £65.70 for the music studio which is awesome! Thank you all for your generosity. I know the children enjoyed their treat.
Teachers are busy preparing mid-year reports which will come home next Friday. There is an opportunity to discuss these with class teachers at parents evenings on Tuesday 29 April, Wednesday 30 April and Thursday 1 May.
We’re bidding a fond farewell to Hayley Hallett, our dedicated cook, who has been a valued member of the Southill Primary family for nearly 20 years. We wish Hayley all the very best in her new role and are confident she’ll stay in touch with us. In the interim, Linda has stepped up to cover the cook’s role and we’re pleased to welcome Sarra as our new Kitchen Assistant.
This week, Matt and I have been exploring various options to enhance the lunchtime experience. The children have been wonderfully open to trying new things. We’ve only made a few adjustments but it seems to have made lunchtimes calmer and more efficient. Thank you for your patience and support as we make these improvements and thank you to our lovely staff for bearing with us!
As we approach the final week before the Easter holidays, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a busy and successful term. The children have worked incredibly hard and we are proud of all their achievements. Understandably, as we near the break, some children are showing signs of tiredness, and we’ve experienced a few disagreements and unkind words. This is a normal part of school life, and I want to assure you that we are actively reminding the children about the importance of kindness and how their words and actions can affect others. Encouraging empathy and understanding is a continuous effort, and I appreciate your support in reinforcing these values at home. I hope everyone takes the opportunity this weekend to relax and recharge. Let’s make the most of our final week before the holidays, maintaining a positive and supportive environment for all.
Hope you all have a happy, safe and relaxing weekend.
Caroline 😊
