Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break and are feeling refreshed and ready for the term ahead.

Over the break I thought a lot about our school community and particularly about our ethos of ‘Everyone is welcome here’. In  Monday’s assembly I talked to the children about how only we have the power to create the kind of community we want to belong to. We shared a story and came up with ideas about things we could do to ensure that everyone felt welcome here. As always, the children have come up with some wonderful ideas and I have seen that they have been reflecting on this throughout the week. They are amazing!

At the end of the autumn term, we carried out the review of the First Name Policy. We sought the views of children, staff and parents. The children we spoke to were unanimous in their view that they loved the policy and wouldn’t want to go back (even though they forget sometimes). The overwhelming majority of staff who responded to the survey (91%) are happy with the policy. 66 families replied and 67% of responses were in favour of the policy. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views.

Look out for ‘Termtalk’ – our new termly update for families. Coming out on Monday.

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Caroline
