Welcome to my weekly update from Southill Primary.
Year 1 had a fantastic time on their trip to Corfe Castle this week. Melanie was thrilled with their learning and behaviour. Congratulations everyone.
Year 4 are performing our 80s inspired version of Twelfth Night at Weymouth Pavilion on Wednesday evening. I’m sure you’ll all join with me when I say ‘Break a Leg!’ to the whole cast and crew. I have been lucky enough to see a dress rehearsal and it is truly spectacular! If you would like to come and see the performance, you can get tickets for £2 each here. Everyone is welcome!
On Thursday, we sent out a Ping asking about Breakfast Club takeup. I’d be really grateful if you could take a moment to reply to that as it will really help me to plan.
We’ve noticed that some children are bringing in sensory items and fiddle toys. We understand the importance of these tools for concentration and self-regulation for some children. If you believe your child needs a sensory item, please contact your child’s class teacher or Sarah, our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). We are committed to working with you to understand your child’s needs and to provide an appropriate sensory item for them.
Just lately, there have been a few issues with toys that have been brought in for lunchtime. We really want to be able to continue to allow children to bring in toys to play with but please remind them that they are their responsibility and not to bring in items that will cause them to be upset if they are lost or broken.
I’ve just heard about The Neurodiversity Show which you may be interested in. It’s in Birmingham in May – I’ve heard it’s brilliant!
I am so proud of the achievements and activities of our children. Please spread the word about our school by sharing our Facebook posts. While liking our posts is appreciated, sharing them with your network can significantly increase our reach and help us celebrate our school’s accomplishments with a wider audience. Your support can help us attract new families and therefore continue providing the best educational experience for our children.
We are fast approaching the half term break and I think we all (children, staff and parents) are in need of a rest and a recharge! It’s important that we look after ourselves and each other next week and remember to be kind, always.
Hope you all have a happy and safe weekend.
Caroline
