Welcome to my weekly update from Southill Primary. I hope you’ve all had a great week.

I know the children are looking forward to the disco tonight. Our FOSS team are brilliant and work together so smoothly to put on fantastic events for the children. Children have also had fun ‘breaking the rules’ today in exchange for donations for the bingo on 28th March. Thank you children and thank you FOSS!

We are pleased to welcome Laura back on Monday, as she returns from her placement as part of her initial teacher training. Laura will be teaching with Matt, Dan and Sue in Year 4 for the next few weeks and for the first half of the summer term. She will then complete her placement back with Year 3. We know she’s going to be brilliant!

After the Easter break, Dan will begin a placement at another school within the Chesil Partnership as part of his teacher training. This opportunity will help him gain valuable experience in a different school environment and key stage. While we will miss him, we are committed to supporting his professional development. When Dan returns he will complete the year with Year 4. We wish Dan success during his placement and look forward to his return.

ASCape is a charity supporting Autistic and socially anxious young people aged up to 25 in West Dorset, Weymouth and Portland. They offer a huge range of clubs, workshops and activities plus signposting, support and information for parents and carers. ASCape is run by parents, for parents and everybody involved ‘gets it’ – they offer a community-led safe space for families, giving autistic and socially anxious youngsters the chance to socialise and learn new skills without judgement. Many of their activities are at a subsidised cost or free. For more information go to ascapegroup.org

I have received a message from a neighbour who has a low wall and often sees children walking along it. She is worried that children may hurt themselves but also they are causing damage to the capping stones. Please be considerate of our neighbours when dropping off and collecting your children. Thank you.

Hope you all have a happy and safe weekend.
