Welcome to my weekly update from Southill Primary. I hope you’ve all had a great week. Isn’t it wonderful to have some sunshine?

Wacky Hair Day for Comic Relief – Thank you all for supporting this worthy cause! I know the children have had fun and look great! We raised £157.90 – amazing!

It was great to see some of our pupils in the Dorset Echo this week for their amazing fundraising efforts for the RSPCA. We’re super proud of them!

It seems that doing kind things for others is a theme at the moment as I have been asked by a group of Year 2 pupils if we can have a Bake Sale next week to raise money for the Music Studio. Of course I said yes! We’ll run it next Friday at breaktime and everything is 50p. Please send in donations of cakes for children (and staff 😋) to buy. Well done children – it’s really amazing that you want to make a positive contribution.

This week is Neurodiversity Celebration Week. This is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. It aims to transform how neurodivergent individuals are perceived and supported by providing schools, universities, organisations and others around the world with the opportunity to recognise the many skills and talents of neurodivergent individuals, while creating more inclusive and equitable cultures that celebrate differences and empower every individual. Our staff have had some excellent training over the past few weeks about supporting neurodivergent children and of course at SP we love to read a good book! Books For Topics created a fantastic list of books to celebrate neurodiversity suitable for children in primary schools. We already have many of them in school but I have added the others to our Amazon Wishlist. If you would like to have a look and purchase a book for our school, we’d be so happy!

🌟 Join our team! 🌟

Are you ready to make a difference in our school community? We’re on the hunt for a dynamic and friendly Midday Supervisor to join our lovely team! We’re looking for someone with a big smile, a warm heart and a knack for creating a positive environment. If this sounds like you or if you know someone who fits the bill, contact our school office today to learn more about how to apply. Come be a part of something special!

Wishing you all have a happy and safe weekend.

Caroline
