Caroline’s weekly blog

Hope you have had a great week. We have certainly had a super week here in school.

Year 6 had a brilliant day out at Shire Hall Museum in Dorchester learning all about the history of Crime and Punishment. You can read about it here.

Next week, Year 5 are heading out to Bristol to visit We the Curious, one of the UK’s biggest and most exciting interactive science centres. I’m sure they’ll have an amazing time and learn lots about their project, Earth and Space.

This week, I’ve sent out details about our Harvest Festival. This will take place in the hall at 2.00pm on 23 October. Only Reception and KS1 classes are taking part again this year and their families are warmly invited to come and celebrate with us. We would welcome donations for the foodbank from children in all year groups so if you would like to make a donation, please send it in on 23 October.

Our SENDCO, Dawn, has asked me to let you know about the upcoming CCPP (Child Centred Progress Plan) meeting dates on Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd October. If your child has a CCPP, Dawn will be in touch to make an appointment with you and the class teacher on one of these days.

Some amazing parents have stepped forward and signed up for the committee roles on FOSS. This is fantastic news and I’m extremely grateful to them. This means the disco next Friday is ON. The first disco for Reception and KS1 will be at 5.00-6.00 and then KS2 will be 6.15-7.15. Tickets cost £4 and can be purchased on the door. Cash/card accepted. Children are invited to dress up if they wish to.

If you would like to help out at the disco or get involved with FOSS in any way (even if it’s only small) we’d be very grateful. Email me on cwood@southill.dorset.sch.uk or catch me on the playground in the mornings.

Since I wrote last week I have also had offers to support with Ice Cream Friday. Again, thanks so much to those parents. It’s a lovely treat that the children look forward to each week which also raises valuable funds for the school. I’m not in school today so we’ll get this going again next week hopefully.

Wishing you all a very happy and relaxing weekend.

Caroline
