Hello all,
As we move into the summer term with an exciting program of music learning across the school, I must update you on last term’s amazing songwriting projects! Each class wrote and recorded their own song with me. They chose what they wanted to sing about, and wrote all the lyrics and melodies themselves. As we moved up through the year-groups, pupils had an increasing musical input into decisions such as genre, instrumentation, tempo, and chord choices. Once the songs were written and rehearsed, we recorded the classes singing their compositions into my special recording equipment. It’s been a pleasure recording these songs with each class, they’re all amazing tunes!
Year 6: Joyful Vs Mad
Year 6 decided to write a mid-tempo pop-rock song about the balance of positive and negative emotions in life:
Year 5: Just Be You
Year 5’s song is all about diversity, inclusion, and the courage to be yourself:
Year 4: Learning at Southill
Year 4 wanted to celebrate how much they love being at our school – especially being in year 4!
Year 3: Dancing on the Moon
Year 3 couldn’t help but boogie in space with this funk-pop classic:
Year 2: Happy and Kindย
Being a very happy and kind school, it seemed perfect that year 2 voted to sing about being just that!
Year 1: Puppies and Kittens
Who doesn’t love puppies and kittens? Well, if you don’t then Year 1 would like a word:
Reception: We Love Our Families
Reception are learning to say all the right things ๐
I hope you’ve enjoyed listening to these tunes as much as we did making them! Happy summer term everyone.
Mr Bell
These are all absolutely amazing! Every single song has its own message – Well done Southill Children and of course Mr Bell.
