In English this week, Year 6 were given the task of writing character descriptions of their own mythical or hybrid creature. Their finished descriptions would then be put into an AI generator where an image of their very own creature would be created! This meant their descriptions needed to be as detailed as possible.

As a class, we explored some examples and discussed how expanded noun phrases, alliteration and similes are an effective way to create a detailed description. We also explored how other elements can add to a character description, such as: its habitat, the noise their creature makes (although this won’t show up on the image!), and the type of presence their creature creates.
