Over the last couple of weeks, we have spent time creating our own lyrics with a winter theme to the tune of ‘Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’. We had to think carefully and work collaboratively to achieve this, ensuring that each line consists of the correct number of syllables.
Here are two versions that we came up with:
Winter, winter it’s that time,
Lights on houses start to shine,
Down the chimney he will go,
With his reindeer, ho, ho, ho,
Winter, winter it’s that time,
Lights on houses start to shine.
Winter, winter it’s that time,
Lights on houses start to shine,
I see Santa in the sky,
I see snowflakes oh so high,
Winter, winter it’s that time,
Lights on houses start to shine.
After singing along to our new versions, we were ready to add instruments! We began by using chime bars in our table groups. Next, we added some untuned percussion instruments to play the pulse (such as triangles and shakers) and joined together as a class, while singing too!
Well done for a fantastic first term Year 2! We are very proud of you and all of your hard work. We hope that you and your families have a very happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you in January, 2022!
We would also like to say a very big thank you for all of the lovely Christmas cards and presents that we received – we are very grateful!
