The wind gods were on our side this week and we had a lovely, fun packed afternoon in Forest School.
We reminded each other of how to tie a timber hitch and then some of us put up a den.
A hammock was put up by the children using timber hitches. It was easier to tie the rope to the tree than the wall bars in the hall last week as there was much more friction. It didn’t fall down! What great reflecting from last week to make this a success.
One of us decided to organise a tug of war game once we untied the knot that we created in the rope!
Wood was whittled, the bird food was topped up and crafts were created out of natural objects.
It was fantastic to see everyone taking part in an activity of their choice. The children are getting so good at creating and leading their own activities.
Next week the all the childen would like to use steels to start a fire, whittle a cooking stick and then cook s’mores! I for one, can’t wait!
Glad to see that you DID get to build your dens outside for week 5, after last week’s rain. They look great! Looking forward to reading all about your fire and cooking skills next week. Great update, well done all!
The hammock looks comfy 🙂
Wish we could join all you for smores! Looking forward to see the firepit in action – enjoy!
