We started with ‘Turn the tarp’, a team building game where all members of the team have to be on the tarp and then they have to turn the tarp so they other side is upwards. The catch though – no one can get off or fall off. Otherwise it all begins again, and this did happen a few times. We reflected on the skills that we needed to use to complete this game such as good communication, good listening, resilience, being reciprocal and not giving up. It was tricky but both teams did manage it after a lot of attempts! Well done!
We were then into choosing time which was extremely busy and included pond dipping, whittling, lying in the hammocks in the cool shade, making tea for the king and queen in the muddy kitchen and sorting out the vegetable patch. This involved freeing the potatoes and onions that were panted a few weeks ago of weed. We also planted some of the tomato plants from the plant swap as well as a strawberry plant. The long, lost compost bin was relocated and was filled with all the weeds we pulled out. Hopefully it will made some good compost for future planting projects.
A big group of children decided to play ‘Imposter’ or ‘Among us’, which even though it has been played many times at Forest School, the adults still can’t get their heads around the rules or how to play it! Bird food was put out and the new bird bath made and installed.
We finished with some lovely reflections and thinking about what we would like to do next week. If this weather holds, Mrs Butler my bring in her sprinkler to cool us down.
What a busy and productive week! Well done Forest Schoolers 🙂
