Year 2 have had a great week back making the most of the lovely weather. We took our learning outside this week during our new topic ‘Wriggle and Crawl’ to create a sketch map of our school garden. The children really impressed us with their skills creating maps using an aerial view and adding detailed keys and colour coding back in the classroom.
In maths, we have started measuring mass and today we used the balance scales to weigh bags of rice in grams. Yesterday we compared things with 1 kg identifying them as heavier, lighter or about the same as a kilogram. We have also started reading scales to the nearest kg.
We also started some athletics during PE. This week we practised our running and jumping skills, stopping with balance and put these skills together to run relay races over hurdles!
Next week we are really looking forward to arts week – please remember to send your child in with an old T-shirt to wear over their uniform. On Monday they will also need a teaspoon to use for soap carving.
Have a great weekend, see you Monday!
