Functional and Fancy Fabrics

This half term in art and design, we have been looking at the Victorian artist, designer, poet and political activist William Morris. Morris had different beliefs from most people in Victorian society as he wanted to continue to use traditional crafting methods and move away from the industrial revolution. We looked at traditional block printing used by Morris and designed and made our own blocks. We then used a grid in order to create a repeating pattern with these blocks.

We will be concluding this topic next week by making a fabric sampled which will include sewing the hem.
