Goodness Gracious, We’re Learning About Greek Gods and Goddesses!

After our brilliant Greek Day earlier this half-term, Year 5 were absolutely buzzing with excitement to learn more about the mighty gods and goddesses of Ancient Greece. Who could blame them? The stories of Zeus, Poseidon, Athena, and the rest of the Olympian crew are packed with adventure, power, and a touch of drama!

So, we gave the children a fantastic challenge—work with a partner, pick a Greek god or goddess, and dive into some serious research. Armed with books, handouts, and online sources, they set off on their mythological quests. From the mighty thunderbolts of Zeus to the deep-sea kingdom of Poseidon, from Aphrodite’s beauty to Athena’s wisdom, each pair uncovered fascinating facts about their chosen deity.

And let me tell you—WOW! Their work is nothing short of eye-catching. The enthusiasm was off the charts, and Mrs. Murray and I loved hearing all the brilliant facts they had discovered. It was like having our very own Mount Olympus in the classroom!

We can’t wait to showcase these fantastic pieces of writing on our History Display. But the fun doesn’t stop there! In an upcoming lesson, the children will join forces with another pair to share and compare their knowledge, bringing even more of these legendary figures to life.

Well done, Year 5!
